Difference between streaming on the TriCaster and on the MDS.

04/09/2017

The TriCaster is able to produce a single stream of video content, and with the Advanced Edition Software, TriCaster users with the software can send this single video streams to multiple destinations.

The MediaDS however is a dedicated real-time media encoding and live streaming video delivery platform, that is able to stream up to 4 video channels to multiple destinations.

Here is something else you might need to know.

The TriCaster only supports RTMP/RTSP protocols whereas MediaDS also supports Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), MPEG-DASH, and WOWZ as well as RTMP/RTSP. Both systems are able to record an archive of the stream, however the MediaDS can record all four channels, vs the TriCaster’s single channel.
